My visual arts career began with graphic design and illustration studies at The School of Visual Arts, New York City, and advertising photography studies at Portfolio Center, Atlanta. From the start, I worked for various advertising agencies and small businesses in Manhattan and Atlanta as a graphic designer, comp artist, and photographer. In 1985, I opened a commercial photography studio in Atlanta that specialized in products, portraiture, and special events. I was awarded the Professional Photographers of America certification degree (CPP) and my work has been included in professional salons and publications over the years. Some of my clients have included: Kodak, IBM, Fujisawa Pharmaceutical, Sweetheart Cup, Rheam Corporation, Ritz Carlton, Ernst & Young, The Fox Theater, Mohawk Industries, and many others. My most memorable photo session was with jazz musician Ray Charles.
In 2007, I began the process of winding down from commercial work and shifted my attention towards fine art projects. I traveled full circle with my visual arts career, and now I was returning to my artistic roots with a desire to produce work that is personal and authentic.
I have taught commercial photography for The Southeastern Center for the Photographic Arts (Atlanta) and Lively Technical Center (Tallahassee); photography electives for the middle and high school levels, and one-on-one workshops for the amateur and professional. My photographic career began with film and chemistry and continues today through the ever evolving digital process. I am available for individual and group instruction of digital photography, film photography, wet and dry darkroom, and Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop and Photoshop Lightroom. Along side my commercial art and photography education, I have also earned degrees in education from Florida State University. If you would like additional information regarding my instructional services, please contact me.
I am currently printing my work on 100% Fibre Rag Bright White Smooth Satin and 100% Cotton Rag Smooth Matte depending upon image. These papers have been selected due to their excellent reproduction qualities and archival stabilities. I custom print photographs up to 17x22" in my studio, and contract with outside professional services for larger prints that can be printed on canvas, metal and other substrates. Contact me before purchase so I can help you decide what would be best for your image display needs.
I have literally thousands of stock images that are not publicly displayed on this site, but are available for purchase and publication. If you are seeking images for a project, send me a message describing what your needs are, and I will place images up for your inspection via client access. Costs for stock images are priced according to publication requirements.
I can be contacted through Retouch Arts for post-processing and retouching services.
